Bhopal, April 20: The India Meteorological Department’s Bhopal center has predicted light rain or drizzle accompanied by thunder and lightning in several districts of Madhya Pradesh from Sunday evening to Monday.

Additionally, the impact of the heatwave is expected to persist in various parts of the state. According to the weather report released on Sunday, conditions remained mostly dry across all divisions in the last 24 hours. The heatwave continued in Ratlam, Umaria, Chhindwara, and Mandla districts.

There was little change in maximum temperatures, which were recorded as 2.4 to 2.9 degrees Celsius above normal in Bhopal, Ujjain, Chambal, Rewa, Jabalpur, and Sagar divisions. In Gwalior and Shahdol divisions, temperatures were noted to be 3.1 to 4.5 degrees Celsius above normal, while other areas experienced normal temperatures.

The minimum temperature in Ujjain division rose to about 2.9 degrees, while other locations remained normal. By Sunday evening, the entire state continued to experience hot and dry weather.

In the eastern districts, temperatures soared higher, with Naogaon recording 44.3 degrees and Mandla at 43.9 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures ranged from 16.8 degrees in Pachmarhi to 27 degrees Celsius in Raisen.

No rainfall was reported in any part of the state in the last 24 hours. In the western districts, Ratlam recorded a maximum temperature of 43.8 degrees, while Bhopal reached 41.8 degrees Celsius. Strong winds were observed in Sehore (41 km/h), Ashoknagar (31 km/h), and Sagar (31 km/h).

According to the weather department, an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over southwestern Rajasthan and eastern Uttar Pradesh, creating a trough line extending from eastern Uttar Pradesh to southern Chhattisgarh.

On Monday, light rain or drizzle with thunder and lightning is expected in Betul, Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Chhindwara, and Pandhurna districts, while the remaining areas will remain dry. These districts may also experience strong winds at speeds of 30-40 km/h.

Heatwave conditions are likely in districts such as Alirajpur, Jhabua, Ratlam, Guna, Umaria, Dindori, Mandla, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Niwari.

In Bhopal and surrounding areas, partial cloud cover is expected, with wind speeds around 8-10 km/h. The maximum temperature here may reach 41 degrees, with a minimum around 25 degrees Celsius.

No significant changes in temperature are anticipated over the next five days.
