Rain Alert: Heavy Showers Predicted Across Multiple States; IMD Issues Warning for Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi, 24 July – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for several parts of the country as a low-pressure area has formed over the northern Bay of Bengal. This weather system is expected to bring widespread and intense rainfall across various regions in the coming days.

Widespread Rain in Central and Eastern India

Due to the low-pressure system, Odisha is likely to witness very heavy rain on 24 and 25 July. Chhattisgarh may receive similar rainfall on 25 and 26 July, followed by Madhya Pradesh on 26 and 27 July. On 25 July, heavy rain is expected in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra’s ghat regions, Vidarbha, and Gangetic West Bengal.

IMD has also warned of very heavy rainfall between 24 and 30 July in central and eastern India, particularly in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand.
Between 24 and 27 July, Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim are also expected to receive heavy rainfall in some areas.

Alert for Uttar Pradesh

A warning has been issued for Uttar Pradesh as well. Heavy rainfall is likely between 24 and 30 July in eastern Uttar Pradesh, and from 25 to 30 July in western Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, on 28 July, some areas in western Uttar Pradesh may experience very heavy rainfall.

Heavy Rain Forecast for Northwest India

According to IMD, parts of eastern Rajasthan may see very heavy showers on 27 and 28 July, while Jammu and Kashmir is expected to receive heavy rainfall on 29 and 30 July.
Himachal Pradesh will see very heavy rain from 26 to 30 July, and Uttarakhand from 24 to 30 July. Punjab and Haryana are likely to witness heavy rain on 27 and 28 July.

South India to See Intense Showers

In southern India, Kerala, Mahe, coastal and south interior Karnataka will receive heavy to very heavy rain between 24 and 29 July.
From 24 to 27 July, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and north interior Karnataka are also forecast to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places.

Maharashtra, Gujarat and Surrounding Regions on Alert

On 25 July, extremely heavy rain is likely in parts of Konkan and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra.
Between 24 and 30 July, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Konkan, Goa, and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra.
Marathwada may receive heavy rain on 25 and 26 July.
Gujarat is expected to see rainfall from 25 to 29 July, while Saurashtra and Kutch are likely to experience showers between 26 and 29 July.
