Lula Calls Bolsonaros Departure from Brazil Shameful
Brazilian President Lula criticizes Bolsonaros departure to the U.S. after election loss, labeling it a shameful act amid ongoing investigations.

Rio de Janeiro, October 28 (Daily Kiran) : Brazilian political tensions escalated following reports that right-wing leader Flavio Bolsonaro may have left the country for the United States after losing the presidential election. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva condemned this move, describing it as “shameful.”
Speaking to supporters gathered outside the Alvorada Palace in Brasília to celebrate his 81st birthday, Lula expressed regret over Bolsonaro’s decision to leave Brazil. “I am sorry that he has left Brazil… and his decision to do so is shameful,” he stated.
On Tuesday, Federal Deputy Mauricio Marcon from the Liberal Party confirmed that Flavio Bolsonaro was heading to the U.S. However, the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court had issued an order on Monday preventing him from leaving the country. This judicial ruling is linked to an ongoing investigation into money laundering involving both Bolsonaro and attorney Willer Tomaz.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation of Bolsonaro’s departure. Brazilian media reported that there is no record in the country’s immigration control system indicating he exited through any regular border checkpoint.
Federal police are currently investigating whether Bolsonaro has indeed left the country and, if so, how he managed to do so. A Supreme Federal Court judge has ordered him to surrender his passport and has prohibited him from leaving Brazil. According to Brazil’s official news agency, Agencia Brasil, this confidential order is part of the investigation involving both Bolsonaro and Tomaz.
Reports suggest that Bolsonaro has also been barred from contacting Tomaz. The federal police are examining allegations of money laundering and illegal foreign currency transactions concerning both individuals.
In the runoff election held on Sunday, Lula defeated Bolsonaro, securing 51.79% of valid votes compared to Bolsonaro’s 48.21%. Flavio Bolsonaro, the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, has served as a senator since 2019.
