Ahmedabad, June 19: Amit Chavda, the Gujarat Congress President, announced the launch of the ‘Student Echo’ initiative in response to the ongoing paper leak incidents affecting students.
In a press conference on Friday, he highlighted the recurring issue of paper leaks, which has caused significant distress for millions of students across the country. He emphasized that these leaks not only disrupt students’ lives but also waste national resources, shattering their dreams. Chavda noted that the voices of students are being overlooked, but under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress is taking steps to elevate these concerns. This initiative marks a first in the country.
Chavda pointed out that a recent leak of the NEET exam paper led to its cancellation, impacting countless students who had been preparing diligently. He estimated that the total expenses incurred by students preparing for this exam could reach ₹1.3 lakh crore, nearly equivalent to the entire budget for educational institutions in the country, which stands at ₹1.4 lakh crore. In total, the financial burden associated with paper leaks could amount to ₹3.5 lakh crore. He stressed that when a paper is leaked, it is not just a single exam that is canceled; entire families are affected. This situation raises serious questions about the educational system and the examination process in India.
Chavda criticized the lack of accountability for those responsible for these leaks, stating that while students face severe penalties for mistakes, no action is taken against the officials involved in the leaks. He announced that the ‘Student Echo’ program, initiated from Kota under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, aims to provide a platform for students’ grievances without any political bias. This initiative seeks to amplify their voices and push for reforms in the examination system.
According to Chavda, press conferences will be held in every district of Gujarat on June 22 and 23 to raise awareness among students. Following these events, the Congress will engage with students, youth, and families to gather their suggestions. The ‘Student Echo’ program will be rolled out in Gujarat in the coming days.
