According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm has begun internal development of both SoCs, with model numbers SM8975 for the 8 Elite Gen 6 and SM8950 for the 8 Gen 6. For reference, the current 8 Elite Gen 5 and 8 Gen 5 are labeled SM8850 and SM8845, respectively.

The upcoming Gen 6 series is expected to be manufactured on a next-generation 2nm process, delivering improved performance and power efficiency. Qualcomm is also likely to continue its new naming strategy introduced with the Gen 5 lineup.

While specific details about Gen 6 remain under wraps, insights from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 give a glimpse of what’s to come:

  • CPU: Third-generation Oryon CPU with a prime core clocked at 4.6GHz

  • Performance: Up to 20% faster and 35% more efficient than the previous generation

  • GPU: 23% better graphics performance with enhanced ray-tracing capabilities

  • AI: Upgraded Hexagon NPU with 37% higher throughput
