Beijing, August 3: The Qinghai-Tibet Railway has reported serving over 2.1 million passengers during the summer travel season, which began on July 1 and continued through July 31. According to the China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group, the railway also transported more than 2.6 million tons of goods during this period, marking significant growth in both passenger and freight sectors.
Passenger data indicates a consistent increase in travelers on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway this summer. Key reasons for travel included students returning home, visits to relatives, tourism in plateau regions, and trips to escape the summer heat. In response to the rising number of passengers, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Group analyzed travel patterns and enhanced transport capacity. This included operating regular trains at full capacity and deploying additional special trains as needed.
To facilitate passenger travel, the railway also established special green channels for transporting essential goods such as coal, oil, construction materials, grain, and fertilizers. The company effectively utilized dedicated railway lines connected to power plants, oil depots, chemical factories, and steel mills, thereby improving support for summer demand, major projects, and essential supplies in the region.
Additionally, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway has improved the operation of the Tianlu Express intercity freight trains, aiding in the distribution of Tibetan mineral water and other local mineral products to other parts of the country.
Leveraging the capacity of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway network, the company has also enhanced its freight transport system. A single order for multimodal transport through 95,306 platforms has been promoted, along with modern logistics services. This has helped reduce transportation costs for enterprises and increase freight efficiency.
