Moscow, May 23: Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the attack by Ukrainian armed forces on a college in Starobilsk, Luhansk, on Friday. He stated that the “neo-Nazi regime” in Kyiv targeted a student hostel in what he described as a “terrorist attack.”
During a meeting with graduates of the “Time of Heroes” program, President Putin emphasized that the assault occurred at night while students were asleep. The Russian Foreign Ministry claimed that by inflicting suffering on children in Starobilsk, the Kyiv regime and its handlers bear full responsibility for escalating hostility and undermining political and diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
The ministry further stated that this “open, inhumane terror against helpless children” marks a new chapter in the armed conflict initiated by the Kyiv regime, which has faced defeats on the battlefield.
According to the ministry, such attacks are carried out using long-range weapons supplied by NATO. They asserted that they possess credible information regarding Western capitals that has aided the Ukrainian armed forces in accessing intelligence data and precise targets.
The Russian Foreign Ministry declared, “This attack could not have been accidental. It was a deliberate assault on civilians, reminiscent of the spirit of German Nazis. Anyone inside the building was not involved in hostilities, and there were no military facilities near the college.”
They called on international organizations, national governments, and the global public to investigate and condemn the attack in Starobilsk.
Reports indicate that 86 children aged 14 to 18 were present in the five-story dormitory of Luhansk State Pedagogical University at the time of the attack. So far, 40 individuals have been reported injured, and four fatalities have been confirmed.
