Punjab Governments Chief Minister Maanwa-Dhiyaan Sakaara Scheme Criticized as Election Stunt by BJP

Bhatinda, July 2: The current government of Punjab, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is nearing the end of its term, with assembly elections expected soon. Amid this backdrop, the government has announced the implementation of a significant initiative, the ‘Chief Minister Maanwa-Dhiyaan Sakaara Scheme,’ which includes the release of financial assistance. Under this scheme, payments for three months have been issued simultaneously. Women from the general category will receive ₹3,000, while women from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will receive ₹4,500 directly in their bank accounts. However, BJP leaders have labeled this move as an election stunt. They urge the public to think carefully before voting and not to be swayed by the government’s promises.

BJP leader Surjit Kumar Jiyani launched a scathing attack on the government, stating that it is a regime of theatrics, lies, and deceit. He accused the government of making such announcements to woo voters before the elections. Jiyani pointed out that the government had promised to provide ₹1,000 monthly to women upon coming to power, but it has taken over four years to fulfill this commitment.

He further noted that during the election period, citizens were encouraged to fill out forms and were assured of various schemes, but the promises have not been met on the ground. Jiyani emphasized that as the five-year term nears completion, the total amount promised is substantial, yet the public has not reaped the actual benefits. According to him, the government is now attempting to influence voters through such schemes.

He appealed to women, stating that accepting government assistance is not wrong, but they should vote wisely in return. He warned that it would be an insult to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country if they were swayed by greed.

The BJP leader also claimed that many women face significant challenges in the application process for this scheme. He mentioned that people are forced to stand in long queues for various certificates and documents. In particular, women have to visit offices for days to obtain SC certificates, causing them considerable distress. He alleged that the assistance scheme announced by the government is not being implemented uniformly and shows discrimination based on caste.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Gurmeet Singh Sodhi described the entire scheme as a gimmick and an election stunt. He asserted that the real objective of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his government is not the welfare of the public but rather to gain political advantage.

Sodhi stated that this scheme is merely a strategy to secure votes, lacking any solid policy or long-term vision. He urged the public not to be influenced by these electoral promises and to use their votes wisely.

He also claimed that the pace of development in the state is sluggish, with many areas still lacking basic amenities. Issues related to electricity, employment, and development continue to trouble the populace.

The BJP leader concluded by stating that only a double-engine government can accelerate Punjab’s development. He praised the policies of the central government and the Bharatiya Janata Party, asserting that if their government comes to power in the state, citizens will receive better amenities and governance.
