Chandigarh, May 20: Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has been vocal against the NEET paper leak, engaging directly with students to hear their concerns. In a significant move, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced free bus travel for students participating in the NEET examination.
In a post on the social media platform X, CM Mann stated that the Punjab government will provide free travel on state roadways for NEET candidates for three days. He emphasized that many underprivileged students struggle to afford the fare to reach their exam centers. Following Kejriwal’s recent discussions with NEET candidates, where students expressed their need for assistance, the Punjab government decided to waive bus fares for all NEET aspirants on June 20, 21, and 22. Students need only to show their admit cards to travel without charge. “May God grant you success,” he added.
Previously, on May 17, Arvind Kejriwal appealed to NEET candidates not to take drastic steps amid reports of stress and depression following the cancellation of the medical entrance exam.
In a post on X, Kejriwal encouraged students to share their feelings and suggestions through comments or direct messages, assuring them that “we are with you.”
Highlighting the tragic consequences of the NEET controversy, Kejriwal mentioned reports of four student suicides—one in Goa, one in Rajasthan’s Sikar, one in Delhi, and one in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur.
In a video message shared on social media, Kejriwal expressed concern over the distressing messages and phone calls from students, many of whom are feeling depressed due to the exam’s cancellation. He urged all students not to take extreme measures, stating, “I understand your worries.”
