
Mohali, June 18: Punjab FC, a team in the Indian Super League (ISL), has extended the contract of defender Khaimingthang Lahuangdim for three more years ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Lahuangdim has been a vital part of the club’s journey over the last four seasons, contributing significantly during the I-League campaign. He was a member of the historic I-League-winning team that became the first to gain promotion to the Indian Super League.
Since joining the team, Lahuangdim has played in all 85 matches, scoring one goal and providing seven assists. During the 2025-26 ISL season, he served as one of the captains of Punjab FC.
Upon the extension of his contract, Khaimingthang Lahuangdim expressed, “I just want to say that it feels like home. In my four years at Punjab FC, I have grown immensely as a player and a person. Some of the best moments of my life have come at this club, including winning the I-League and making my ISL debut. I feel immense pride whenever I wear this shirt. I believe there is still much to achieve, and our best days are ahead. That’s why I have chosen to stay here.”
Having been part of the club’s journey from the I-League to the ISL, Khaimingthang will continue to bring experience and consistency to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Founded in 2020, Punjab FC made its I-League debut in the 2020-21 season, winning the league in 2022-23 and earning promotion to the ISL for the following season. In the recently concluded 2025-26 season, Punjab FC finished in 14th place in the ISL.
