Punjab CM Accuses BJP of Misusing Central Agencies for Political Gain

Mumbai, May 9: Punjab’s political landscape is heating up following a raid by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at the residence of Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora on Saturday morning. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of exploiting central agencies like the CBI, ED, Income Tax Department, and Election Commission for its political advantage.

Speaking to reporters in Sangrur, CM Mann stated that after targeting other states, the BJP has now set its sights on Punjab. He criticized the BJP’s modus operandi, claiming that it has been troubling states where it does not hold power. He referenced previous ED raids on business houses linked to Ashok Mittal, which ceased after Mittal joined the BJP.

Mann asserted that the central BJP government is undermining the constitutional framework of the country. He alleged that where the BJP struggles to win, it sends in the ED and CBI to intimidate and coerce people into submission. “Why are ED raids only conducted in states without BJP governments? This is a blatant attack on democracy,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister further condemned the politics of hatred and discrimination against Punjabis. He emphasized that new tactics are being employed daily to instill fear. “Punjab is a land of gurus and saints. In this fertile soil, every seed can sprout, but the seed of hatred will never take root here,” he declared.

Mann accused the BJP of creating chaos in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha, only to seek votes afterward. “They ignite fires and then seek to gain power through votes. In West Bengal, they claimed, ‘The government is ours,’ and now they are trying to do the same in Punjab,” he explained, labeling the BJP as the “Party that Burns India.”

He concluded by stating that BJP members are leaving no stone unturned in targeting Punjab. Recently, an ED raid on a businessman linked to Aam Aadmi Party’s state president Aman Arora has been perceived as an intimidation tactic, but Mann vowed it would not succeed.
