Chandigarh, June 12: A conference organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) took place on Friday in Chandigarh. Punjab’s Minister Aman Arora participated in the event, where he engaged with domestic and international industrialists to discuss investment opportunities in Punjab. He invited them to invest in the state and contribute to the growth of the industrial sector.
Minister Aman Arora highlighted that under the leadership of Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, revolutionary steps have been taken in the industrial sector. This has led to record-breaking investments in the state, creating new job opportunities for the youth.
He noted that CII hosted a very productive conference on the Free Trade Agreement, which included industry representatives and ministers from the UK. The discussions were meaningful, and Arora believes that Punjab is a progressive and attractive destination for industries. Over the past four and a half years, the Bhagwant Mann government has fostered an environment that has attracted nearly ₹65,000 crore in investments, with expectations of reaching ₹75,000 crore in the future. The government is actively promoting industries.
Referring to the NITI Aayog meeting, Aman Arora stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann strongly represented the state’s interests. He mentioned that Punjab has a 550-kilometer-long international border, which poses certain challenges for trade and commerce. The state lacks a nearby port, necessitating the transportation of raw materials from afar and sending finished goods over long distances. Given these geographical hurdles, he has requested a special package from the central government and NITI Aayog, expressing hope that the Chief Minister’s request will be granted.
On the passing of former Asian Games gold medalist Jaspal Rana, Aman Arora expressed his condolences, stating it was very sad news. He acknowledged Rana’s contributions to India and noted that his loss is a significant blow.
