New Delhi, August 23: Senior BJP leader K. Lakshman has criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for opposing bills that serve national interests. He stated that whenever the government introduces legislation beneficial to the country in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi and the entire India Alliance oppose it. According to Lakshman, the opposition does not prioritize the welfare of the people, while Prime Minister Modi is committed to their interests, ensuring that such bills will pass in the house.
In an interview with a news agency in New Delhi, Lakshman emphasized that the BJP has consistently supported the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative. However, he accused Congress of politicizing this issue. He recalled that the first four general elections after independence were held simultaneously in 1952, 1957, 1962, and 1967. He expressed concern that Congress is attempting to turn this into a contentious topic. “When our government introduces bills for the nation’s benefit, Congress protests. But I want to say that the public is watching, and they will respond at the right time,” he remarked.
Discussing a recent meeting with the newly formed team of BJP National President Nitin Naveen, Lakshman mentioned that an introductory session took place. They discussed strengthening the organization, strategizing, and defining their role in the upcoming state elections. The new committee includes youth, women, and experienced party workers. A proposal regarding ‘Vande Mataram’ was passed during the meeting. Lakshman stated that since ‘Vande Mataram’ is our national song, Congress is trying to politicize it today.
He noted that ‘Vande Mataram’ served as an inspiration for patriotism during the struggle for independence. It is our national song, and the disrespect shown by Sonia Gandhi at the Congress office on August 15 is unacceptable. Furthermore, he pointed out that the Congress Working Committee’s decision regarding the two songs on August 19 revealed the disparity between Congress’s words and actions. Many patriots sacrificed their lives for ‘Vande Mataram,’ yet Congress continues to indulge in appeasement.
Lakshman asserted that the BJP’s role will be crucial in the upcoming elections across various states. Over the past 12 years, under PM Modi’s leadership, the government has consistently worked for the welfare of the people through development initiatives and programs for the poor. To mark PM Modi’s 25 years in public service, the party has decided to launch a ‘Seva Program.’
He concluded by stating that the message from Nitin Naveen’s meeting was clear: all party workers must convey the central government’s initiatives to the public.
