
New Delhi, March 24: PT Usha, the President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. Her son, Ujjwal, was also present during the meeting.
Usha described the encounter as a “warm and memorable moment,” expressing gratitude for the Prime Minister’s blessings, guidance, and continuous inspiration. She shared her feelings on social media platform X, stating that such moments always hold a special place in her heart.
Earlier, while addressing the National Conference of the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI), Usha highlighted that India has entered a significant phase in sports. She noted improvements in infrastructure, scientific training, and strong institutional support for athletes.
Usha emphasized that the goal of hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games and bringing the 2036 Olympics to India reflects the growing confidence in the country’s sports future.
She stated that hosting such global events will not only showcase India to the world but also accelerate the development of sports infrastructure and inspire a new generation of athletes.
Usha also mentioned that there has been a substantial change in the way sports are supported and promoted in India over the past decade. Athletes now have access to better facilities, training, and institutional backing.
Referring to government initiatives, Usha noted that programs like ‘Khelo India’ have played a crucial role in identifying and nurturing young talent across the country.
