Ulaanbaatar, March 31: On the second day of the Asian Boxing Championship, India’s Priya secured a remarkable 5-0 victory, while Jadumani Singh put up a tough fight against the top-seeded Japanese boxer.

In the women’s 60-kilogram category, Priya showcased an outstanding performance, defeating Kazakhstan’s Rimma Volosenko by a unanimous decision of 5-0. Throughout the match, she displayed exceptional control and composure, advancing to the next round.

In her upcoming bout, Priya will face China’s Chengyu Yang, the second-seeded boxer in this category. This match is anticipated to be thrilling and of high caliber.

In the men’s 55-kilogram category, Jadumani faced a challenging match against Japan’s Rui Yamaguchi. Ultimately, he lost by a split decision of 2-3. Yamaguchi is the top-seeded boxer in this category and entered the tournament as a strong contender, boasting significant achievements such as a silver medal at the Astana event and a bronze medal at the Boxing World Cup finals.

Despite facing such an experienced and successful opponent, Jadumani responded effectively to every punch. In the men’s 70-kilogram category, Deepak confidently overcame Uzbekistan’s Khavasbek Asadullayev with a split decision of 3-2 in a tough match.
