This event took place on Tuesday, marking a collaborative effort between the two BJP-ruled neighboring states.

According to an official statement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust in Varanasi and the Mahakaleshwar Temple Trust in Ujjain. This agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the field of ‘One District, One Product’ (ODOP) initiatives. The second agreement was established between the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The ‘Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh Cooperation Conference’ was attended by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and several cabinet ministers from the Uttar Pradesh government. Addressing the conference, Chief Minister Yadav emphasized the significant religious and cultural importance of Varanasi, alongside the unique spiritual significance of Ujjain. He noted the geographical, cultural, spiritual, and historical ties between the two states.

CM Yadav highlighted that, recognizing the immense potential for religious tourism in both cities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated major development projects. He stated that both states are ushering in a new era of spiritual and religious tourism.

Furthermore, he mentioned that Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are jointly developing a shared religious tourism circuit, which will enhance tourism and provide pilgrims with a seamless and enriching pilgrimage experience.

The conference was organized to explore the industrial capabilities, traditional handicrafts, ODOP and GI-tagged products, agricultural and food products, investment opportunities, and tourism potential of both states.

On this occasion, Uttar Pradesh’s Minister for Industrial Development and Investment Promotion, Nand Gopal Gupta, remarked that this cooperation conference is a clear example of the deep mutual understanding between the two neighboring states. He also noted the close ties between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh’s regions, including Baghelkhand, Gwalior-Chambal, and Bundelkhand.
