New Delhi, March 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a video conference today to review the preparations and plans of states regarding the West Asia conflict.
An official stated, “Chief Ministers from election-bound states will not participate in this meeting due to the model code of conduct.”
As geopolitical tensions escalate and their global impacts become clearer, this meeting serves as a platform for Prime Minister Modi to inform Chief Ministers and build broad consensus on India’s approach to the crisis.
Additionally, a separate meeting will be organized for the Chief Secretaries of election-bound states through the Cabinet Secretariat. Earlier, the government convened an all-party meeting on Wednesday evening in the Parliament complex in New Delhi to discuss the situation in West Asia.
This meeting followed Prime Minister Modi’s address in Parliament regarding the West Asia situation. In his statement, he mentioned that the government has formed seven empowered groups to develop strategies to mitigate the effects of the Iran-Israel-U.S. conflict, focusing on fuel, supply chains, fertilizers, and other sectors.
The all-party meeting on Wednesday was chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, JD(U) Executive President Sanjay Jha, Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh, and other leaders were present at the meeting.
After the meeting, Kiren Rijiju spoke to the media, thanking all members from participating parties and stating that the government addressed all questions and concerns raised by opposition leaders.
He further noted that all opposition parties assured their support for the measures being taken by the government to address the situation.
Congress leaders Mukul Wasnik and Tariq Anwar, CPI-M MP John Brittas, Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav, and other opposition leaders were also in attendance.
This meeting comes amid rising tensions in West Asia, which have disrupted key maritime corridors and heightened concerns about the safety of Indian citizens in Gulf countries.
