President Murmu’s Speech in Parliament Praised as Visionary by Vice President

New Delhi: The budget session of Parliament commenced on Wednesday with a joint session address by President Draupadi Murmu. The speech received high praise from Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, who described it as comprehensive, visionary, and far-sighted.

On his official Twitter handle, Vice President Radhakrishnan wrote, “The address delivered by India’s President Mrs. Draupadi Murmu at the start of the budget session was broad, visionary, and forward-looking. It clearly outlined India’s remarkable development journey and also presented a confident roadmap for the future.”

He further added, “The President’s speech covered all aspects of national development, reflecting a strong commitment to inclusive and people-centric growth reaching every section of society. It represents our collective aspiration to build a strong, self-reliant, and inclusive developed India.”

President Murmu’s speech highlighted India’s progress over the last 25 years of the 21st century, noting significant achievements and the establishment of a robust foundation. She mentioned advancements in infrastructure, railways, defence, space, startups, and social welfare sectors during the past decade. Referring to ‘Operation Sindhu’, the President emphasized India’s valor on the global stage.

Invoking the thoughts of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the President stated that the government is working sensitively for the welfare of Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities. The vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is reaching every citizen. She also noted that 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty in the last decade. Speaking on women’s empowerment, the President highlighted the participation of over 10 crore women in self-help groups and the rise in the number of ‘Lakhpati Didis’.

The budget session is scheduled to continue until April 2, 2026. The Economic Survey will be presented on January 29, followed by the Union Budget on February 1.
