New Delhi, May 26: As President Donald Trump approaches his 80th birthday next month, public interest in his health remains high. On Tuesday, he underwent his annual medical and dental examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
According to a White House pool report, Trump arrived at the facility in Bethesda, Maryland, at 8:51 AM and stayed for over two and a half hours, departing at 12:27 PM.
The White House stated that this appointment included a “routine annual dental and medical assessment” as part of Trump’s regular preventive healthcare. This visit marked Trump’s third scheduled medical appointment at Walter Reed in the past 13 months.
During his time at the medical center, Trump met with military personnel and staff. He will turn 80 on June 14. In recent months, he has faced increasing scrutiny regarding his health. The New York Times noted visible bruises on his hands and swelling in his feet during public appearances.
The White House attributed these injuries to frequent handshakes, while doctors indicated that the swelling in Trump’s feet is related to chronic venous insufficiency, a condition affecting blood flow in the veins.
The Hill reported that during his previous visit to Walter Reed, Trump underwent a CT scan. However, his medical team attempted to “completely rule out any cardiovascular issues.” According to reports, Trump’s doctor, Dr. Sean Barbella, stated that the scan was entirely normal with no abnormalities detected.
To prevent heart disease, Trump takes approximately 325 milligrams of aspirin daily. In a prior interview with The Wall Street Journal, he mentioned that the aspirin contributed to the bruises on his hands.
White House doctors are expected to release a summary of the examination, although presidential medical disclosures have varied in detail and transparency.
Trump has frequently addressed questions regarding his age and health, often criticizing former President Joe Biden’s fitness during the 2024 presidential campaign. The issue of age became a significant focus in the last election, as both Trump and Biden emerged as the oldest major party presidential candidates in U.S. history.
