Bhubaneswar, July 29: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi honored Jyotirmayi Nayak, the winner of Indian Idol Season 16, at his official residence on Tuesday. He announced a cash prize of ₹5 lakh to celebrate her remarkable achievement.
During their meeting, Jyotirmayi showcased her Indian Idol trophy and shared her journey to victory. She spoke about the years of hard work, dedication, and commitment that led to her success in this prestigious national singing competition.
Congratulating the young singer, the Chief Minister remarked that with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, her exceptional talent, and relentless efforts, she has gained national recognition and brought pride to Odisha. He praised Jyotirmayi as an inspiration for the new generation of emerging singers and commended her for representing the state on a national platform.
The Chief Minister also lauded Jyotirmayi for using her musical talent beyond the stage. She has provided music therapy to cancer patients in various hospitals across Odisha, helping alleviate their pain and improve their emotional well-being.
Praising this unique blend of talent and service, Majhi stated that Jyotirmayi has emerged as a youth icon for both Odisha and the nation. Jyotirmayi’s parents, Chakradhar Nayak and Gauri Nayak, were also present at the honor ceremony. Speaking to the media, Jyotirmayi expressed, “If I were to credit anyone for my journey from an Odia superstar to a national superstar, it would be Mahaprabhu Jagannath. He is the pride of Odisha. Whenever we proudly say we are Odia, we also say we hail from Jagannath Dham. This faith has always been with me. I was certain that with Mahaprabhu Jagannath’s blessings, I could face any challenge.
