Preparations for Lord Jagannaths Ratha Yatra Underway Amid Rain in Puri

Puri, July 16: Preparations for the grand Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath have been completed in Puri, Odisha, and across the country. A large number of devotees have arrived in Puri to participate in the festivities. Despite intermittent rain, the preparations for the Ratha Yatra are in full swing. Authorities and police are on high alert to ensure a smooth event.

Since late last night, Puri has experienced sporadic rainfall, leading to reports of waterlogging in several areas. Nevertheless, the enthusiasm among devotees remains high, as they gather in large numbers for the celebration.

Before the Ratha Yatra, Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi inaugurated an advanced digital donation system called ‘Samarpan’ at the Sri Jagannath Temple administration office. This new initiative allows devotees worldwide to donate via UPI, internet banking, debit and credit cards, and WhatsApp, making the process more accessible and convenient.

Minister Prithviraj Harichandan stated, “This system enables anyone to contribute to the progress and regular operations of the Jagannath Temple.”

Divisional Commissioner Divya Jyoti Parida shared updates on the preparations, saying, “By the grace of the Lord, all three chariots have reached their designated locations. This has been made possible through the combined efforts of the servitors, police force, and administrative officials. Our priority now is to finalize the ongoing preparations across various departments and ensure that devotees face no difficulties.”

Chief Minister’s chief advisor Prakash confirmed that all arrangements have been completed. He mentioned, “The final rituals outside the temple have also been completed. We are now eagerly awaiting the Lord’s arrival tomorrow morning, and we hope that all rituals will proceed on time, with the chariot pulling commencing as scheduled. All security measures have been put in place, and we have taken into account the shortcomings from the previous year.”
