Political Tensions Rise Over Maratha Reservation in Maharashtra
Political leaders in Maharashtra clash over Maratha reservation issues amid the Dussehra rally, with accusations flying between key figures.

Mumbai, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : In Mumbai, political tensions are escalating over the Maratha reservation movement as leaders prepare for the upcoming Dussehra rally. Ministers from the Mahayuti government and Shiv Sena officials have targeted Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil, linking their rally to issues of social justice and farmers’ welfare.
Minister Uday Samant responded to Jarange Patil’s allegations during a press interaction. He expressed confusion regarding the claims made by Jarange Patil, stating, “I spoke with Manoj Dada Jarange Patil yesterday evening. He discussed the allegations he raised during his rally. I made it clear that if he has any evidence, I would hold a press conference to clarify Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s position. However, today, a completely different issue has emerged. Those around him are providing him with incorrect information, but this will not create any tension between the BJP and Shiv Sena.”
Minister Pratap Sarnaik also questioned Jarange Patil’s shifting stance. He noted, “Initially, Manoj Jarange was seen as a leader working for the common Maratha community, and honestly, his approach resonated with all Maratha activists and members. However, the statements he is making now suggest he is speaking on behalf of Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders. He should clarify his political stance.”
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Deepak Kesarkar emphasized the significance of the Dussehra rally. He remarked, “Balasaheb taught us that 80% of our efforts should be dedicated to social service and only 20% to politics, meaning we should help society in every possible way. I believe that today’s gathering will see Eknath announce relief measures for farmers facing difficulties, as he always thinks about the poor and upholds Balasaheb’s ideology.”
Shiv Sena MP Jyoti Waghmare added, “We are here to celebrate Shiv Sena’s Dussehra rally. On one hand, we are commemorating the birth centenary of ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat’ Balasaheb Thackeray. On the other hand, we are marking 60 years of Shiv Sena. However, a shadow of sorrow looms over us as farmers in Maharashtra are grappling with a lack of rainfall and drought.”
