New Delhi, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : The suicide of a sanitation worker employed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has ignited political controversy. On Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a vigorous protest outside the office of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in New Delhi, calling for action against AAP councillor Vijay Kumar.
BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia joined the protest and made serious allegations against the AAP councillor, asserting that the incident was not a suicide but a murder. “The AAP councillor is the main accused in the death of the sanitation worker. Why are Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia silent?” he questioned. “In your own constituency, a Valmiki sanitation worker took his own life. This happened because your councillor choked him, seized his passbook and ATM card under the pretext of a loan, leaving him helpless.”
Chandolia accused councillor Vijay Kumar of financially exploiting the worker and subjecting him to relentless harassment, which he claimed drove the worker to take such a drastic step. The BJP is demanding stringent action against the accused councillor.
During the protest, Chandolia also directed sharp criticism at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He took issue with Gandhi’s remarks made during a Prime Minister Narendra Modi event, where Gandhi mocked Modi’s gesture of offering a seat to an elderly woman. “Rahul Gandhi frequently discusses the Prime Minister’s mother. I challenge him to consider the implications of his words. If BJP members were to reveal details about Sonia Gandhi’s past in Italy, how would he react?” Chandolia stated, urging Gandhi to reflect on his own family before making such comments.
The political atmosphere remains charged as the BJP continues to push for accountability in the wake of this tragic incident.
