Giridih, June 14: A police team was attacked while attempting to apprehend a suspect involved in cyber crime in Giridih district, Jharkhand. The incident involved stone-pelting and vandalism of a government vehicle, leading to the arrest of two individuals. Authorities report that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other suspects involved in the incident.
On the night of June 10-11, the cyber crime unit received a tip-off that the wanted suspect, Chudaman Mandal, was at his residence in Chiksoria village, under the jurisdiction of Ahilyapur police station. Acting on this information, the police conducted a raid in the village to detain the suspect. However, a group of locals began to resist the police action.
The situation quickly escalated, resulting in a scuffle between the police and the crowd. The officers faced stone attacks, and a government vehicle was damaged in the chaos. During this turmoil, suspect Chudaman Mandal managed to escape from police custody, and several officers sustained injuries. Following the incident, a case was registered at Ahilyapur police station, and an investigation was initiated.
In response to the seriousness of the situation, a special task force was formed under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) at the direction of the Superintendent of Police. During the investigation, police arrested Jitan Mandal (51) and Suraj Mandal (20), both residents of Chiksoria village. They are currently being interrogated, and authorities are also examining the roles of other individuals involved in the incident.
Police officials have stated that efforts to capture the fugitive cyber criminal Chudaman Mandal and other suspects are ongoing. This operation involves teams from multiple police stations, including the Cyber Police Station, Mufassil Police Station, and Ahilyapur Police Station.
