
Ranchi, June 22: In a significant operation against drug trafficking, police in Ranchi have arrested five individuals following raids at various locations. Approximately 28 grams of brown sugar, cash, a motorcycle, a CNG auto, and mobile phones were seized during the operation.
The Senior Superintendent of Police in Ranchi received confidential information regarding the sale and purchase of brown sugar in the Hindpiri, Sukdev Nagar, and Kotwali police station areas. Subsequently, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the leadership of the Superintendent of Police (City) and the Assistant Superintendent of Police (Kotwali).
The first operation took place in the Hindpiri area, near Marwari College, where two suspects, Mohd. Ehtesham and Mohd. Shahadat, were apprehended. They were found in possession of 1.29 grams of brown sugar and ₹8,020 in cash. An FIR has been registered against them under various sections of the NDPS Act at the Hindpiri police station.
Following this, the SIT conducted a raid in the Sukdev Nagar area at Mudla Hill, where Jitendra Kumar Singh and Rahul Kumar Yadav were arrested. They were found with 18.6 grams of brown sugar, a motorcycle, and a CNG auto. An FIR has also been filed against them under the NDPS Act.
The third operation occurred near the JPSC office in the Kotwali area, leading to the arrest of Rajkumar Puran, who was found with 8 grams of brown sugar and a mobile phone.
Police reported that some of the arrested individuals have prior criminal records. Rajkumar Puran has two cases registered against him for theft and other offenses, while Mohd. Shahadat has pending cases related to attempted murder and the Arms Act.
Authorities have initiated further actions against all suspects under the NDPS Act at their respective police stations.
