Bareilly, February 9: In a significant operation, police in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, apprehended two notorious criminals during an encounter. The suspects were injured and have been taken into custody. During the encounter, authorities recovered two stolen motorcycles, several looted mobile phones, and illegal firearms. The injured individuals were promptly transported to a hospital for treatment, and legal proceedings are underway.
According to CO Nitin Kumar of Bhimora police station, a special team was formed following a rise in motorcycle thefts and other criminal activities in the area, as directed by the Senior Superintendent of Police. This team was tasked with surveillance and tracking known offenders. While monitoring the area, police received information about two suspicious individuals near the Rampura underpass. Upon arriving at the scene, the police attempted to stop the suspects, who opened fire on the police team. In the ensuing exchange, both suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their legs.
The suspects have been identified as Zafaruddin from Bhojipura and Sudama from Jatanagar. Authorities recovered two stolen motorcycles, four looted mobile phones, and two illegal firearms with live ammunition from their possession. Both individuals have extensive criminal records, having previously served time in Ghaziabad and Sitapur for serious offenses, including narcotics-related charges. During the interrogation, the name of an accomplice, Asif, emerged, and efforts are underway to apprehend him soon.
The CO stated that given their history of criminal activities, stringent action will be taken against them. Currently, both criminals are hospitalized and will be presented before a judicial magistrate. Police believe that this encounter and the subsequent recoveries will instill fear among criminals in the area, leading to more effective action against such incidents in the future.
