Madhya Pradesh, March 29: The PM Vishwakarma Scheme is empowering artisans, turning them from job seekers into job creators. One such success story is that of Mehrwan Singh Rajput, who has risen from humble beginnings to support his family and pursue his dreams through his own business.
In the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh, a simple artisan struggled to earn just 400 rupees a day through labor. Meeting his family’s needs was a daunting task. However, everything changed when he took advantage of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. With training and financial assistance from the program, he launched a small business. Today, he earns around 40,000 rupees monthly and has not only become self-reliant but also provides regular employment to a young worker.
Mehrwan Singh Rajput hails from the small village of Dhangaur in the Tendukheda block of Damoh district. He has leveraged the PM Vishwakarma Scheme to run his small business successfully.
In an interview, he shared that he applied for the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and, after being selected, attended three months of free training in Damoh. He also received 1,600 rupees during the training period. With prior experience in aluminum and glass work, he quickly completed the training and earned his certificate. Following this, he secured a loan of 50,000 rupees from the bank.
He expressed, “This scheme has been nothing short of a blessing for me. I often blamed myself for being less educated. However, this initiative by the central government has inspired us to take action. I am sincerely grateful to Prime Minister Modi for creating such a beneficial program for artisans like us.”
He added that his shop is thriving. Where he once earned 400 rupees a day through labor, he now makes 30,000 to 40,000 rupees monthly from his business. He has also employed a young worker, providing them with a monthly salary of 8,000 rupees.
