Lucknow, June 23: The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a special campaign this June under the PM Svanidhi scheme to strengthen the economic position of street vendors and small entrepreneurs. This initiative is being monitored by the Chief Development Officer (CDO) across the state, following directives from Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
The government’s objective is to identify eligible beneficiaries based on the ‘Census Town Report’ and provide them with the benefits of the scheme. This will ensure that more street vendors have access to easy loans and government facilities.
To enhance the effectiveness of the PM Svanidhi scheme, the state government has initiated a statewide special campaign. Running from June 1 to June 30, the campaign focuses on reaching eligible beneficiaries associated with street vending and small enterprises.
The CDO will oversee the campaign, ensuring that district-specific targets are met in a timely manner. In line with Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s instructions, the Commissioner of the Rural Development Department, G.S. Priyadarshi, has issued detailed guidelines to all relevant district CDOs. The letter emphasizes the need to identify beneficiaries based on the ‘Census Town Report’ and the lists provided by the department, ensuring that targets are met without fail. CDOs will instruct Block Development Officers in their districts and regularly review the campaign’s progress.
This special campaign, aligned with the expectations of the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA), aims to identify all eligible street vendors who have yet to benefit from the scheme.
Officials have been directed to coordinate with beneficiaries to expedite the application and approval processes. The government has also clarified that progress reports of the campaign will be sent regularly to the Rural Development Commissioner’s office to prevent any delays or negligence in implementation.
Special efforts are being made in several districts, including Agra, Aligarh, Amethi, Azamgarh, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur Nagar, Meerut, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Varanasi, Sitapur, and Sultanpur. Government officials believe that this campaign will successfully connect thousands of new street vendors and small businesses to the PM Svanidhi scheme by the end of June. This will not only provide them with easy loan facilities but also help stabilize and expand their businesses.
