New Delhi, August 23: On International Space Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with CEOs and founders of space startups in New Delhi. During the conversation, he emphasized the extensive use of space technology to improve people’s lives.
Sharing a video of the meeting on X, PM Modi wrote, “I met with some of India’s most promising space startups. As always, I was greatly impressed by their energy and ambition. You will surely appreciate their thinking and positive outlook. Please let me know what excites you the most about India’s space journey.”
The Prime Minister encouraged the CEOs and founders, stating, “You have shown courage in venturing into new fields. The most important thing is that you have trusted the government’s word. I believe we must remain steadfast in our decisions and avoid frequent changes, so anyone taking risks can have confidence.”
The CEO of India’s first space tech unicorn informed PM Modi, “On July 18, we successfully launched India’s first private rocket. This is just the beginning. We are working on plans to launch a rocket every month next year, with three factories ready for this purpose. Each factory can produce one rocket per month. My dream is to launch a rocket every week, and eventually every day.”
Another CEO shared, “We have developed an engine that is among the most modern in the world. Testing for this engine is ongoing.”
A different CEO mentioned, “Since the space industry has opened up, people living in the US and Europe want to come here and work.”
In response, PM Modi said, “We need to connect many people. We must inspire individuals from around the world to come to India in this (space) sector. Because of you, we can achieve this.”
Another CEO informed the Prime Minister, “We manufacture satellite engines and have received excellent global responses. The Indian government has provided significant support for exports.”
PM Modi responded, “We are competitive in costs, and there is no question regarding talent. Our people have a higher risk-taking capacity, which allows us to establish our place quickly.”
A representative from a space pharma startup told PM Modi, “We are India’s first pharma startup. We are developing satellites capable of manufacturing pharmaceuticals in space and bringing them back.”
