Jadavpur University to Curb Anti-National Slogans and Illegal Activities, Says Minister Dilip Ghosh

Kolkata, August 23: West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh has responded sharply to recent unrest among student groups at Jadavpur University. He stated that anti-national slogans and illegal activities have been prevalent at the university, but such behavior will no longer be tolerated.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday morning, Ghosh remarked, “This is not the first time we are witnessing controversy at Jadavpur. Anti-national slogans have been shouted, and illegal activities have taken place. The campus has become a hub for drugs and cannabis. Everyone was aware of this. There was disrespect shown towards central ministers and the governor, yet no one spoke up. This will not continue at Jadavpur.”

Ghosh emphasized that the police should ensure law and order at the university, and the administration must manage the internal conditions of the campus effectively.

In the meantime, addressing the controversy surrounding the national song ‘Vande Mataram,’ Ghosh criticized the Congress party. He claimed that they did not sing the entire song because they do not remember it fully. “Now they will have to face the consequences of this controversy,” he added.

Ghosh stated, “The Congress has not learned ‘Vande Mataram’ even after 80 years. First, learn it, then speak. Who will listen to you? You ruled the country for 60 years; what did you give to it? You made it poor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lifted the country from that situation and is moving it forward.”

He asserted that the public stands with Prime Minister Modi. “You cannot create chaos by bringing a few people to the streets,” he concluded.

Regarding TMC MLA Kunal Ghosh’s comments on the Annapurna Bhandar scheme, Minister Dilip Ghosh stated, “Anyone who meets the established criteria will benefit. The TMC even provided benefits to men under the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme. Who authorized that? Therefore, whether it is the Annapurna Bhandar scheme or housing scheme, surveys are being conducted for all. Documents like Aadhaar cards and voter IDs are being verified. As verification progresses, benefits will be provided to everyone.”
