PM Modi Engages with Leaders of Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait on Indian Community Safety

New Delhi, March 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions on Tuesday with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, and Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of Kuwait. The talks centered on regional conditions and emphasized the safety of the Indian community residing in these countries.

These conversations took place amid ongoing tensions in Iran and the Gulf region, prompting India to maintain contact with relevant nations and key partners. The Prime Minister condemned violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity during discussions with the three leaders.

On social media, PM Modi stated that he discussed recent developments in West Asia with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. He strongly condemned any infringement on Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both leaders agreed that continuous diplomatic dialogue is essential for restoring peace and stability in the region. Modi also expressed gratitude to the Omani government for its support to the Indian community.

Regarding his conversation with Kuwait’s Crown Prince, PM Modi described it as “meaningful.” He reiterated India’s condemnation of violations against Kuwait’s sovereignty and expressed solidarity with the Kuwaiti people during these challenging times. Both leaders emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for regional peace. Modi appreciated the Kuwaiti leadership’s cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of the Indian community.

Following his discussion with the Emir of Qatar, PM Modi tweeted, “I spoke with my brother, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar. We stand firmly united with Qatar and strongly condemn any violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We stressed the urgent need to restore peace and stability in the region through dialogue and diplomacy. I also expressed my gratitude for their continued support and care for the Indian community during these challenging times.”

Additionally, a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs indicated that India urged all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize the safety of civilians as tensions escalated on February 28, 2026. The situation has worsened during the holy month of Ramadan, raising significant concerns for India.

India clarified that it is closely monitoring the regional situation and making necessary decisions in line with national interests. According to the Ministry, approximately ten million Indian citizens live and work in the Gulf region, and their safety and well-being are India’s top priority.

The Ministry also noted that India’s trade and energy supply chains pass through this region, meaning any major disruption could severely impact the Indian economy. India has firmly opposed attacks on maritime trading vessels, with reports of Indian citizens either killed or missing in recent incidents.
