Lucknow, October 12 (Daily Kiran) : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended warm wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Sharadiya Navratri. He highlighted that the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura symbolizes the restoration of righteousness and justice. Adityanath emphasized that the qualities of humility, courage, strength, resolve, justice, and righteousness triumph over arrogance, stubbornness, attachment, and negative tendencies, which are embodied in the nine forms of Goddess Durga.
He called on citizens to commit to ensuring the safety and empowerment of women during this festival. In his message, Adityanath recounted how, in times of distress caused by Mahishasura, divine energy manifested to create a powerful force, symbolizing the ultimate feminine power.
The Chief Minister noted that the defeat of Mahishasura by Goddess Durga restored dharma and justice. He conveyed heartfelt wishes to the people for this auspicious occasion, recalling that before Lord Ram’s victory in Lanka, he performed penance to seek blessings from the Mother Goddess. He mentioned that Lord Ram was willing to sacrifice his own eye to complete his devotion, which led to the Goddess granting him victory.
Adityanath described the Mother Goddess as a protector who takes the form of Chandi to safeguard the world, defeating demons like Madhu-Kaitabh, Shumbha-Nishumbha, and Rakthabija. He reiterated that the essence of humility, courage, strength, resolve, justice, and righteousness is crucial in overcoming societal challenges.
He stressed that this strength is the foundation for ensuring the safety, dignity, and self-reliance of women and the entire community. The Chief Minister noted that the increasing participation of youth and the faith shown at significant power centers like Vindhyavasini, Pateshwari, and Shakambhari during Navratri reflects a deep connection to cultural heritage among the new generation.
Adityanath pointed out that Uttar Pradesh is becoming a strong center for the renaissance of faith, culture, and tradition. His government initiated the Mission Shakti campaign during Navratri in 2020, aimed at integrating women’s safety and empowerment with public participation. He mentioned that over 44,000 women are now part of the Uttar Pradesh police force, with a 20% reservation for women in police recruitment.
Additionally, he announced the establishment of three women’s PAC battalions named after courageous women like Uda Devi Pasi, Jhalkari Bai Kori, and Rani Avantibai Lodhi. The Chief Minister highlighted the Kanya Sumangala scheme, which promotes the education and bright future of girls.
He urged the people to pledge during Navratri to be the voice for any sister’s safety, support a girl’s education, and assist women in becoming self-reliant. Adityanath concluded that the worship of the Goddess will be complete only when the women of the state are safe, respected, and self-sufficient, which is crucial for realizing the vision of a developed Uttar Pradesh.
