
New Delhi, March 7: On the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Diwas 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes to the public. He emphasized that this initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring that every citizen has access to quality medicines at affordable prices.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi stated, “On Jan Aushadhi Diwas 2026, I extend my heartfelt wishes to all those benefiting from the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana. This initiative demonstrates our dedication to providing quality medicines at reasonable prices. Countless families are saving on healthcare costs and receiving appropriate treatment through Jan Aushadhi centers.”
Additionally, PM Modi shared insights into the transformative impact of the ‘Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Yojana’. ‘MyGov India’ noted, “Healthcare systems are strongest when they are accessible and inclusive.”
The post further highlighted, “Jan Aushadhi is improving the lives of millions by ensuring that essential medicines remain affordable and accessible. Its growing presence in towns and rural districts is not only strengthening access to healthcare services but also empowering local entrepreneurs and communities.”
According to ‘MyGov India’, Jan Aushadhi centers are providing significant relief to millions of impoverished and middle-class families through affordable and quality medicines. Citizens are receiving discounts of 50–80 percent on medicines through thousands of centers across the country.
As per ‘MyGov India’, citizens have saved over ₹40,000 crores by obtaining affordable and quality medicines from Jan Aushadhi centers. More than 1.5 million people daily trust this initiative by purchasing quality and affordable medicines. In just 12 years, the network of Jan Aushadhi centers has expanded from 80 to 18,000.
Moreover, sales at Jan Aushadhi centers have surged from ₹7.29 crores in 2014 to over ₹2,000 crores, reflecting the public’s trust in affordable and quality medicines. Over 2,110 medicines, 315 surgical products, and essential medicines across 29 treatment categories are available at these centers, ensuring that every citizen can access affordable and quality healthcare in one place. The sale of sanitary pads at just ₹1 each has empowered women’s hygiene, health, and dignity, with over 100 million sold nationwide.
‘MyGov India’ also reported that nearly 60 percent of the newly opened Jan Aushadhi centers in the last three financial years are operated by women, promoting women’s leadership.
