Purulia, April 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Purulia, West Bengal, on Sunday. He stated, “I usually refrain from predicting election outcomes, but this time, everyone I meet claims that the BJP government is assured.” After hearing this, I am confident that the BJP will form a government with a significant majority this time.
He highlighted the trust the people of neighboring Tripura placed in the BJP after decades of Left rule. Similarly, in Assam, despite years of Congress governance, the people chose the BJP. This indicates that when fear and corruption peak, citizens turn to the BJP. We are witnessing the same trend in Bengal. The people of Bengal have made their decision, so I urge them to abandon fear and embrace trust.
Modi criticized the TMC’s governance, stating that tribal districts are lagging under the “Mahajangal Raj” of the TMC. Basic amenities like roads, electricity, water, schools, and hospitals are in disarray. He noted that tribal lands are not under the control of the tribal people, but rather occupied by TMC syndicates. The TMC has deceived Bengal’s farmers at every turn, particularly potato farmers, as we can all see. The syndicate controls the markets and cold storage facilities. The BJP will uproot this syndicate and ensure that farmers regain their rightful lands.
The Prime Minister assured that farmers will benefit from the double engine of governance. The Bengal BJP has announced a support price of ₹3,100 for rice. Additionally, if the BJP forms the government in Bengal, the PM Kisan scheme will provide ₹9,000 instead of the current ₹6,000. I promise that once the BJP government is in place, every central scheme for farmers will be implemented swiftly.
He recalled that when the BJP first came to power in Odisha, the first Chief Minister was from the tribal community. The same happened in Assam. The BJP has had the opportunity to elect a tribal woman as the President of the country. The party is committed to working for tribal communities. However, under the TMC’s rule, tribal districts are suffering. The TMC syndicate has seized tribal lands, and farmers are being cheated at every step.
The TMC syndicate controls the markets and cold storage facilities. The BJP will dismantle this control and selectively clear these markets. TMC ministers have exploited teacher recruitment, deceiving thousands of youth. In the TMC’s regime, no work happens without bribes, and without bribes, industries cannot thrive. Factories do not come out of fear; they come from trust. Investment flows in when there is confidence.
PM Modi emphasized that the entire nation wanted a law for 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies. While there was a debate in Parliament, the TMC opposed it, fearing that more women legislators would advocate for women’s rights. Therefore, the TMC must be punished for this crime during voting.
He expressed his political experience, stating, “I am confident that after May 4, the BJP will have a Chief Minister.” With both the Chief Minister and Prime Minister from the BJP, Purulia’s development will accelerate. The TMC’s ruthless government is crushing women’s dreams, with incidents of rape and murder occurring in schools and colleges, while the TMC government protects the culprits.
