Mirzapur, April 23: A devastating road accident in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night has resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals. The incident occurred on National Highway-135 near the Drumandganj Valley, where a speeding truck collided with several vehicles from behind, leading to a fire.
According to police reports, around 8:20 PM, a truck (MP 15 HA 3775) struck a Swift car (UP 65 MT 4038), a Bolero (UP 63 AC 5589), and a trailer (BR 24 GC 7990) near the Badka Ghuman area. The impact was so severe that both the Bolero and Swift caught fire immediately.
Tragically, nine occupants of the Bolero, including four children, and the truck driver died on the spot. The bodies were severely burned. The driver of the Swift was trapped inside, necessitating a rescue effort to retrieve the body.
Emergency services and local authorities arrived at the scene following the incident. However, residents expressed frustration over the delayed response from the fire department. Police from multiple stations, including the Lalganj Circle Officer and Drumandganj Station Officer, were engaged in rescue operations.
Initial investigations suggest that the truck’s brakes failed, causing the accident. The collision led to the vehicles igniting, resulting in the loss of 11 lives. Authorities are currently investigating all aspects of the incident to determine the exact cause. Meanwhile, the process of notifying the families of the deceased is ongoing.
