Karnataka Leaders Pay Tribute to Pahalgam Attack Victims on First Anniversary

Bengaluru, April 23: On Wednesday, Karnataka’s political leaders gathered to honor the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack on its first anniversary. They reaffirmed India’s commitment to combat terrorism and prevent such incidents in the future.

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, expressed that even after a year, the pain and memory of this “cruel and barbaric” attack profoundly impact the nation’s collective consciousness.

He paid heartfelt tribute to the 26 innocent lives lost in the attack, stating that their memory strengthens India’s resolve in the ongoing battle against terrorism.

Kumaraswamy emphasized that terrorism cannot weaken the spirit of the nation nor obstruct the paths of peace, progress, and national unity. He further stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the nation’s commitment to fighting terrorism remains firm and unwavering.

Rail and Water Power Minister V. Somanna remarked that a year ago, the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam claimed 26 innocent lives, attempting to divide a nation that refuses to be broken. He assured that India remembers every soul and every sacrifice.

Somanna also called for healing for the injured, peace for the departed souls, and strength, comfort, and justice for the families affected by this tragedy. He affirmed that the nation stands united and will confront any threat to India’s peace with determination and decisive action.

Opposition leader R. Ashok stated that the country not only remembers those who lost their lives but also advances their memory as a symbol of collective resolve and national unity.

He noted that a year ago, the land of Pahalgam was stained by a cowardly terrorist attack. “India does not forget, and India does not fear,” he declared, adding that during this time of mourning, the entire nation stands firmly with the victims’ families.
