New Delhi, March 9: The Prime Minister’s Tribal Justice Mega Campaign (PM Janman) was launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in 2024. Its primary goal is to improve the social and economic conditions of particularly vulnerable tribal groups.
Under this initiative, beneficiaries receive secure housing, clean drinking water, better education, health and nutrition services, road and telephone connectivity, electricity for homes lacking it, and sustainable employment opportunities. The program focuses on 9 key ministries and their 11 significant interventions.
Skill and entrepreneurship development is primarily conducted through the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at the Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVK). The ministry implements the skill and entrepreneurship component of this initiative through its autonomous institutions, the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship. The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India supports this effort.
A total of 500 VDVKs are set to operate across 15 states by March 31, involving 41,913 VDVK members. Under this program, the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development and the IIE have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India.
The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India collaborates with state implementation agencies to ensure the establishment and operation of VDVKs, providing necessary tools and materials. The responsibility of the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development and the IIE is to deliver skill and entrepreneurship training at the VDVKs.
As of February 28, 2026, a total of 38,391 VDVK members have been trained under the entrepreneurship development program, with 489 VDVKs already operational.
