The parents of IIT Bombay student Sahil Wakode seek justice and demand the arrest of Professor Dula amid ongoing investigations into their sons death.

Mumbai, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : The parents of Sahil Wakode, a former student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, met with Anil Kumbhare, the Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) in Mumbai, on Thursday. They sought updates on the investigation into their son’s tragic death.
Accompanying them were local MP and Mumbai Congress President Professor Varsha Gaikwad, along with legislators Amin Patel and Aslam Sheikh. The representatives expressed their concerns regarding the investigation and called for the immediate arrest of Professor Surya Narayan Dula, whose name has surfaced in connection with the case.
Sahil’s parents requested crucial information from the Crime Branch about the progress of the investigation. They reiterated their demand for a fair, transparent, and swift inquiry to ensure justice for their son.
This case involves the suicide of Sahil Wakode, a second-year B.Tech student in the Energy Science and Engineering department at IIT Bombay. He was found hanging in his hostel room on the evening of September 18, shortly after being caught using his mobile phone during mid-semester exams.
The Mumbai Crime Branch is currently handling the investigation and has recorded statements from approximately 60 individuals. Professor Dula’s statement has also been taken, during which he denied several allegations. He claimed that he only asked Sahil to leave the examination hall after catching him using his phone.
In their complaint to the police, Sahil’s parents alleged that Professor Dula had harassed their son. The Crime Branch has questioned Dula regarding the events leading up to Sahil’s death and the conversations they had, including Dula’s assertion that he did not confront Sahil directly about the phone incident.
