
Lucknow, February 20: Arjuna Award-winning para-badminton player Manoj Sarkar has been injured in a road accident in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. He has been referred to Lucknow for further treatment.
According to reports, Sarkar was returning to Rudrapur from Lucknow when his car lost control and collided with a blue cow near Sandila village. He sustained serious injuries and was initially admitted to a nearby private hospital. Due to his critical condition, he was later transferred to Lucknow.
The accident occurred close to Raison village in the Kachhouna police jurisdiction. Sarkar was traveling with two friends when the car swerved off the road after hitting the animal and crashed into a pipeline. All individuals in the vehicle have been reported injured.
Manoj Sarkar is a prominent para-badminton player from Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, and has previously held the title of world number one in his sport. He received the Arjuna Award in 2018 for his achievements.
Throughout his international career, Sarkar has won numerous medals, including 18 gold medals. Notably, he secured a bronze medal at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020.
