
New Delhi, December 2 – The Sri Lankan cricket team will host Pakistan for a three-match T20 series in January next year, ahead of the T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held between February 7 and March 8, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Prior to this global event, both countries will play three T20 matches between January 7-11.
Sri Lanka Cricket announced the schedule on their Instagram, stating, “Pakistan’s national team will tour Sri Lanka in January 2026 to play a three-match T20 series. All matches will be held at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla.”
Meanwhile, a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said, “This tour will provide the team with valuable match practice ahead of next year’s global event.”
The first T20 match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will be played on January 7 in Dambulla, followed by the second match on January 9. The third and final encounter is scheduled for January 11. All three matches of the series will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla.
Pakistan’s team will play all their T20 World Cup 2026 matches in Sri Lanka. This bilateral series will give Pakistan an opportunity to familiarize themselves with Sri Lankan conditions. Recently, Pakistan won the triangular series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
For the T20 World Cup 2026, 20 teams have been divided into four groups of five teams each. India and Pakistan are placed in Group A, along with Netherlands, Namibia, and USA.
