Indian Womens Team to Compete in FIFA Series 2026: Match Schedule Revealed

New Delhi, March 25: The Indian women’s football team will participate in the FIFA Series 2026 during the FIFA International Women’s Match Window in April. The matches will take place at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Launched in 2024, the FIFA Series is an international friendly tournament featuring national teams from various confederations. Its aim is to facilitate matches between teams that typically do not compete against each other. According to FIFA, the initiative seeks to promote global football development and ensure increased competition among teams on an international level.

The ‘Blue Tigresses’ will face host nation Kenya in the semifinals on April 11 at 8:30 PM IST. Meanwhile, Australia will compete against Malawi in the other semifinal on the same day at 4:30 PM IST. The winners and losers of the semifinals will clash in the final and third-place playoff on April 15, respectively. If any match ends in a draw, it will proceed directly to a penalty shootout, with no extra time played.

Among the four teams, India ranks second with a FIFA World Ranking of 67. Australia holds the top spot at 15th, while Kenya and Malawi are ranked 133rd and 153rd, respectively.

Earlier this month, India was eliminated from the FC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 after losing 1-3 to Chinese Taipei in their final Group C match, held at Western Sydney Stadium.

In 2022, the Indian team’s World Cup dreams were dashed at home during the FC Women’s Asian Cup when they had to withdraw due to COVID-19. However, last year, the team made a remarkable comeback by qualifying for the Asian Cup through the qualifiers for the first time.

FIFA Series 2026 Match Schedule:
April 11: Australia vs. Malawi, Semifinal 1 (from 4:30 PM)
April 11: Kenya vs. India, Semifinal 2 (from 8:30 PM)
April 15: Third Place Match (from 4:30 PM)
April 15: Final (from 8:30 PM)
