Pakistan Struggles in Second Test Against Bangladesh Despite Babar Azams Half-Century

Silhat, May 17: After losing the first Test, Pakistan finds itself in a challenging position in the second Test against Bangladesh. On the third session of the second day at the Silhat International Cricket Stadium, Pakistan’s first innings concluded at 232 runs, trailing Bangladesh by 46 runs. Bangladesh had scored 278 runs in their first innings.

Pakistan began the second day without any loss at 21 runs. Abdullah Fazzal added 8 runs, while Azaan Awais contributed 13 runs. The team faced an early setback when Abdullah was dismissed for 9 runs, caught by Mominul off the bowling of Taskin Ahmed at a score of 22. Following this, wickets fell at regular intervals. Captain Shan Masood and Salman Agha both scored 21 runs but failed to convert their starts into significant innings.

Babar Azam, the former captain, stood out as the only batsman able to tackle Bangladesh’s bowlers effectively. After an impressive performance in the Pakistan Super League, Babar maintained his form, scoring 68 runs off 84 balls. Sajid Khan, batting at number nine, was the second-highest scorer with 38 runs.

Pakistan’s innings ended at 232 runs in 57.4 overs. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took two wickets each, while Naheed Rana and Taijul Islam claimed three wickets each.

In the first Test, Pakistan lost by 104 runs while chasing a target of 268. Currently, with a 46-run deficit, Pakistan faces a tough challenge. If Bangladesh manages to set a target of 300 runs or more, it could spell trouble for Pakistan in the fourth innings.
