Pakistan Responds to Afghan Fire, Claims Multiple Afghan Soldiers Killed

Pakistan has launched a counterattack after Afghan forces fired across the border, resulting in reported Afghan military casualties.

Islamabad, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : Islamabad is witnessing escalating tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, following a recent exchange of gunfire that reportedly resulted in the deaths of several Afghan security personnel. This incident occurred in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and is said to be a direct response to actions initiated by Afghan forces.

According to reports from the Xinhua news agency, the Pakistani military retaliated after Afghan troops opened fire on Saturday. Sources indicate that the Afghan gunfire was allegedly aimed at facilitating the infiltration of foreign terrorists into Pakistan. In response, the Pakistani army targeted several suspected positions located on the Afghan side of the border.

The reports claim that multiple Afghan soldiers were killed in the exchange, which also involved the destruction of an Afghan base camp. Following the attack, Afghan forces reportedly vacated their border post.

The situation remains tense, with ongoing exchanges of fire reported from both sides. The Pakistani military is on high alert, committed to defending the nation’s borders and ensuring national security.

Long-standing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have been fueled by recurring clashes, primarily driven by terrorist activities, cross-border assaults, and disputes over military installations. Afghanistan perceives Pakistan as the “sole threat” to its national security and regional stability, citing frequent incursions by terrorists allegedly supported and trained by Pakistani security agencies.

Recently, the Taliban announced that its forces had killed 41 terrorists in Nuristan and captured 62 others linked to ISIS-affiliated groups, which they claim were backed by Pakistani officials. Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry has accused terrorists of attempting to penetrate its territory with direct guidance and assistance from the Pakistani military.
