Padmini Kolhapuri and Poonam Dhillon Elected to CINTE Executive Committee

Padmini Kolhapuri and Poonam Dhillon secure top votes in the CINTE executive committee elections, emphasizing constitutional adherence.

Mumbai, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : In Mumbai, on October 20, renowned actresses Padmini Kolhapuri and Poonam Dhillon emerged victorious in the recent CINTE executive committee elections, garnering the highest votes. Kolhapuri received 604 votes, while Dhillon secured 601. Rakesh Bedi followed with 575 votes, and other candidates included Kanwarjeet Pental with 548 votes and Chandraprakash Thakur with 514.

After the elections, Dhillon emphasized the importance of each elected member having a copy of the constitution and being familiar with CINTE’s rules and regulations. “This is crucial,” she stated, highlighting her initiative to ensure every member receives a copy of the constitution and adheres to it.

Dhillon also organized an oath-taking ceremony, where members pledged to uphold the constitution, remain impartial, and engage in welfare activities. She noted that approximately 670 members participated in the elections, and despite the festival holidays, voter turnout was notably high.

These elections followed a tumultuous period in August when 11 members resigned, citing authoritarian practices within the organization. Some members, including Upasana Singh and Sahila Chaddha, accused Kolhapuri and Dhillon of misusing funds and exercising dictatorial control.

Following months of public disputes, the faction led by Upasana Singh conducted re-elections in September, where Singh and Chaddha received the most votes. These elections were conducted after the court denied a stay on the re-elections ordered by the FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees).

However, the results from the September elections cannot be enforced until the next court hearing scheduled for October 26, 2026.
