Bhopal, March 20: On the occasion of World Meditation Day, over 50,000 police personnel in Madhya Pradesh engaged in yoga and meditation. The police department organized special yoga and meditation sessions at approximately 2,800 locations across the state.
Director General of Police Kailash Makwana stated that this day serves as an inspiration for mental peace, positivity, and a balanced life. Following a Memorandum of Understanding with the Heartfulness Institute in February 2025, yoga and meditation activities have been widely implemented within the state’s police units.
Given the stressful nature of police work, this initiative has proven extremely beneficial in providing mental relief to personnel. The DGP noted that the positive outcomes of this initiative are evident. There has been an increase in energy levels among police personnel, improvements in behavior, strengthened family relationships, and a reduction in stress. Many officers have made commendable efforts to overcome negative habits, particularly substance abuse.
Makwana urged all police officers and staff to adopt regular meditation and yoga practices and suggested an impartial evaluation of the initiative’s impact. He expressed gratitude to Daji and the institute’s team, highlighting the initiative’s significant benefits for the police force.
On this occasion, Heartfulness Institute guide Kamlesh Patel (Daji) explained that the Heartfulness meditation method differs from other practices as it aims to elevate the practitioner’s consciousness through pranic energy. He noted that daily experiences, thoughts, and emotions can accumulate, leading to mental imbalance and stress. Through the “cleaning” process in Heartfulness, these negative influences can be gradually removed, resulting in a lighter and more balanced mind.
Patel illustrated that individuals often suffer from various mental pains due to societal and situational factors. Through meditation and self-reflection, one can break free from these limitations and develop a more liberated and balanced mindset.
He emphasized that social, cultural, and external influences affect an individual’s thoughts, making it essential to view life from an unbiased perspective. Regular meditation practice enhances emotional balance and reduces unnecessary mental pressure.
