Bastar Hosts Marathon with Over 10,000 Participants

Jagdalpur, March 22: A marathon was held in Bastar on Sunday, attracting over 10,000 participants. Cabinet Minister Kedar Kashyap welcomed the runners, emphasizing the significance of the event.

He stated that the marathon symbolizes the efforts of resettled individuals striving for peace in a region that has endured nearly 50 years of Naxalite violence. The event aligns with Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s vision for Bastar’s development.

Kashyap highlighted that whether it’s the Bastar Olympics or similar events, the region is progressing towards development. He congratulated all participants and urged everyone to unite for Bastar’s prosperity, culture, and growth. The goal is to elevate Bastar to new heights of development.

In a related initiative, the Border Security Force (BSF) organized an anti-drug marathon in Firozpur. DIG Vijay Kumar Rana announced that the event included a 21-kilometer half marathon, a 10-kilometer race, and a fun run of three kilometers.

Previously, a similar anti-drug marathon was held in Bihar, where 10,000 participants gathered at Gandhi Maidan. With 57% of Bihar’s population under 25, the marathon aimed to channel the youth’s energy positively towards a ‘Drug-Free Bihar.’ The event featured races of 42 kilometers, 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers.
