Uttarkashi, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : In Uttarkashi, the National Lok Adalat held on September 12 successfully resolved a total of 282 cases, with settlements exceeding ₹2.41 crore. This event was organized by the District Legal Services Authority of Uttarkashi, following directives from the National Legal Services Authority in New Delhi and the State Legal Services Authority in Nainital.
The Lok Adalat took place within the district court premises and at external courts in Purola and Barkot. Under the leadership of District Judge Malik Mazhar Sultan, litigants were able to settle their pending cases through mutual agreements. This initiative not only alleviated the burden of pending cases in the courts but also ensured prompt and accessible justice for the parties involved.
During the proceedings, the district judge’s bench resolved 23 cases, resulting in a settlement amount of ₹24.85 lakh. The family court addressed 22 cases, with a settlement of ₹4.19 lakh. Additionally, the bench led by Chief Judicial Magistrate Abhay Singh settled 31 cases, amounting to ₹34.27 lakh.
Judicial Magistrate Karishma Dangwal’s bench handled 22 court cases, securing ₹7 lakh in settlements, while 39 pre-litigation cases resulted in agreements totaling ₹34.84 lakh. In Barkot, Judicial Magistrate Yogesh Gupta’s bench resolved 17 cases, resulting in a settlement of ₹16.50 lakh, along with ₹12.25 lakh from 24 pre-litigation cases. Furthermore, Judicial Magistrate Vivek Sharma in Purola settled 23 cases for ₹30.47 lakh, alongside ₹31.49 lakh from 33 pre-litigation cases.
Sachin Kumar, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, emphasized that the aim of the National Lok Adalat is to provide quick, affordable, and accessible justice to the public. This platform allows litigants to avoid lengthy court processes and reach lasting resolutions amicably.
The event saw significant participation from litigants, lawyers, judicial officials, and administrative personnel, contributing to its overall success.
