Outrage in Uttar Pradesh Over Singer Ankit Baliyans Murder, Says Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, August 27: The murder of popular singer Ankit Baliyan in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, has sparked significant political controversy. Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), has sharply criticized the Yogi government for its handling of law and order in the state.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Yadav stated, “The brutal murder of popular singer Ankit Baliyan, who was shot 18 times, has created an atmosphere of fear throughout the region. The law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh has reached a zero point.”

He continued, “It is heartbreaking to see the grieving mother of the deceased holding her son’s body on the street. The Jat community has taken to the streets demanding the arrest of the attackers. The entire Jat community in Uttar Pradesh feels this as a personal attack and is outraged. There are calls for the investigation of this murder to be conducted from a political rivalry perspective. This is extremely condemnable.”

In fact, Ankit Baliyan, a well-known singer from Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead with 18 bullets in Shamli district. The shocking incident has left the area in a state of terror. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers executed the crime with extreme brutality.

Shamli police reported that they received information via Dial 112 that Ankit Baliyan, a resident of Bantikheda, was shot by 3-4 unidentified individuals as he exited the gym, resulting in his immediate death. Upon receiving the report, a team from Shamli Kotwali police quickly arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and initiated the necessary procedures for the inquest and post-mortem.

Superintendent of Police N.P. Singh stated, “We received information around 7 PM that Ankit Baliyan regularly came to exercise at a gym in the Kotwali area. As he was leaving, he was shot. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead. According to initial information, four assailants arrived on two motorcycles. We are investigating the case. We found two to three shell casings at the scene. The entire team is working on the investigation, and we are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects.”
