Shamli, August 26: A shocking incident has occurred in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, where Haryana singer Ankit Baliyan was shot dead by unidentified assailants. The incident took place on Wednesday evening as Baliyan was leaving the gym.
Shamli police reported that they received information via Dial 112 that Ankit Baliyan, a resident of Bantikheda, was shot by 3-4 unknown individuals as he exited the gym, resulting in his immediate death. Upon receiving the alert, a police team from Shamli Kotwali rushed to the scene, took possession of the body, and initiated the necessary legal procedures, including an autopsy.
Superintendent of Police N.P. Singh stated, “We received the information around 7 PM that Ankit Baliyan regularly came to exercise at a gym in Kotwali city. As he left, he was shot. He was quickly taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead. According to initial reports, four assailants arrived on two motorcycles. We are investigating the case. We found two to three shell casings at the scene. The entire team is working on the investigation, reviewing CCTV footage, and identifying the suspects.”
According to police inquiries, it has come to light that the singer was residing in Sonipat and creating music there. However, following a dispute, he had moved to Shamli. This suggests that the incident may be linked to issues in Haryana and Sonipat. Investigations are ongoing in this regard, and the Haryana police have been contacted. Multiple teams have been formed to ensure a swift resolution and capture of the culprits.
Ravi Sharma, the gym owner present at the scene, reported, “Haryanvi artist Ankit Baliyan had been exercising at our gym for about eight months. As usual, he left after his workout, but shortly after, around four assailants opened fire and fled on foot. He was rushed to the hospital after being shot. Approximately 20 rounds were fired.”
A close acquaintance of the deceased, Satbir Singh, expressed, “We have no information about the attackers. Those responsible for the murder must be punished. Our protest will continue. Baliyan had connections in Haryana and communicated with people there, but he had no ties here.”
Currently, the police have sent the body for autopsy and are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras. The murder has created a climate of fear in the area.
