Outrage in Ayodhya Over Egg-Throwing Incident During Ganesh Idol Procession

Ayodhya, August 24: Saints in Ayodhya have expressed their anger over an incident in Maharashtra where eggs were allegedly thrown during a procession welcoming a Ganesh idol. They condemned the act and urged the Maharashtra government to investigate the matter and take strict action against those responsible to maintain peace.

Priest Sant Deveshacharya Maharaj of Hanumangarhi described the incident as unfortunate. He stated that such behavior during the arrival of the Ganesh idol is highly objectionable. The Ganesh festival is a significant celebration tied to Maharashtra’s cultural identity, involving participation from various communities. He called for immediate action against the culprits.

Mahant Sitaram Das from Saket Bhawan also condemned the incident, labeling it shameful. He demanded that the Maharashtra government identify the alleged offenders and initiate legal proceedings against them, emphasizing that such occurrences during religious events can disrupt social harmony.

Mahant Bhakticharan Das Maharaj, national spokesperson for the Vaishnav Akharas, remarked that the Ganesh festival is one of Maharashtra’s major celebrations. He stated that the saint community opposes any deliberate attempts to create controversy or communal tension during the festival. He expressed hope for appropriate action from the administration in response to such incidents.

Another saint claimed the incident appeared to be premeditated, urging the government to investigate the matter seriously. He insisted that strict legal action should be taken against anyone found guilty. He highlighted that the Ganesh festival is a major religious and cultural event in Maharashtra, attracting devotees and tourists from across the country and abroad.

A different saint from Ayodhya noted that such incidents during religious gatherings cannot be considered normal. He pointed out that the Ganesh festival holds significant importance in Maharashtra’s social and historical life, having played a role in uniting people during the freedom movement.

Saints from across the country have appealed to the administration for a fair investigation into the incident and urged necessary measures to ensure peace and social harmony during religious events.
